Personal Symbols Painting

For this part of the Personal Symbols course with Susan Sorrell we painted a background on Lutradur and add some of our symbols to it.

I painted my background with Dye-na-flow paints and the symbols in a selection of Stewart Gill and Lumiere acrylic paints.
I added the details with Adirondack pens.

It is quite large for me this piece at 12" x 15".
It needs a bit more work and is hanging on my wall awaiting inspiration.
I think I will cut it to smaller pieces and use as an overlay and embellish the pieces with stitching and beads.
Probably quilties or maybe postcards!

I like these symbols and see a lot of things I can do with them. Must start writing them down or I will forget!

Alis, The stamps that you carved and these personal symbols are very appealing! What a neat class! I love the dye-na-flow and Lumiere paints but am unfamiliar with Stewart Gill. I have not worked with Lutradur yet. I tried to order it when I first heard about it but it was out of stock. I need to try again!

Thanks all for the wonderful comments.

Molly Jean,
Stewart Gill paints are textile paints and I suppose the British equivalent of Lumiere. They have lots of different types in yummy colours. I like to mix and match ;0)

Hugs, Alis

Hi!
Thanks for the comment on my blog! Your symbols are wonderful. I wouldn't cut this piece cut at all! It has such potential as a whole...sort of like the various aspects of one's self...lots of little parts/faces/roles/moods that make an entire, wonderful person.
Susan

This is lovely Alis. A sketchbook would be a great place to keep all those symbol ideas.

I love the colors and the personal symbols. They each have such fun details. It is an intreging idea to explore and it would be very interesting to see how the symbols change over time.
