Fairy Queens and Mermaids

My Fairy Queen (at last) is finished.   She took a while - royalty cannot be rushed - but I really enjoyed creating her.

My original idea was that she would be looking back at a clock, a bit like Cinderella.  But she wanted to be in the woods and carrying the key to her heart.

I have started work on a new mermaid.

She is a little cheeky looking but I love her already  ;0)

This Mermaid has just entered my shop.

She is created on A3 Canson paper and is ready to be framed.

My gorgeous daughter and granddaughter are on the way here for a few days.  Toby has to work so cannot be with us this time.  We will miss him but we are looking forward to lots of Tabitha cuddles ;0)

Sending hugs, Alis

PS:  Nearly forgot!!  Lovely Tam of Willowing along with 15 other tutors will be running a year long art course starting in January.  It looks awesome!  Click on the badge in the margin to find out more.

A Beautiful Smile and Shop Update

You may remember I recently became a Grandma and I love it.

Unfortunately Laura, Toby and Tabitha live quite away from us.
No worry though, thanks to the wonderful technology of the day I get to see my daughter nearly every day.
Probably more than I would do if they lived round the corner ;0)

So I just wanted to share with you the most gorgeous smile from Tabitha.

Just before I go, I also wanted to share a fairy and pixie that have just entered my Etsy shop.  I hope you like them.  I just love creating them, they all seem to have their own personalities  ;0)

I hope you pop along and say hello to the Fairy Folk - no admission charges for taking a peek ;0)

PIP - Pixie in Progress

I started this cheeky little pixie last night.
There seems to be soooooo many adverts between the TV programmes, but that's ok as I get lots of drawing done.

I think she is going to be rather cute ;0)
She will be back soon.

I have just added 2 more paintings to my Etsy Shop.

 Green Mermaid

Sleepy Pixie

I hope you like them.  You can see more about them in my Etsy Shop - enjoy!

Etsy and Backgrounds

At last I have something in my Etsy shop again.  It sure feels good, even if I don't sell anything I have enjoyed the process.
Oh so rusty though.  How can you forget so much?? How to describe your work without sounding big headed or making it sound like rubbish!  A difficult path to walk - I love my paintings.  I hope others love to look.

So these are the new Fairy Folk in my shop:

Waterfall Fairy

Thoughtful Pixie
You can find out more about at my Etsy Shop.

On my last post Denise asked what I did next with the background.  I thought I would answer here as I wanted to show what the paint looks like before it is stencilled and stamped.

I scribbled watercolour crayons over the background, I used water to move the colour around and then smooshed white acrylic around so it all mixed together.  This gives a soft colour and a good ground to stencil on.

I will show you how it looks when finished later this week.

I hope that helps Denise.  We are all learning and I hope I always will find those techinques I never thought of myself.

Work in Progress

This little lovely is  going to be a Fairy Princess.

Her background has to be painted and stamped yet and I have some lovely shiny jewels for her to wear.

She is painted with watercolours on A4 paper.

North Devon Fairy Folk

I love to walk round the area I live in, it is such a beautiful place.
Rolling hills and patchwork fields. Crumbling cliffs and racing surf.  Beautiful woodlands.

Sometimes I fancy that I catch a little glimpse in the corner of my eye of pixies picking Devon Violets, a flash of a silver mermaid tail or pretty fairies playing in the woods.

These are the North Devon Fairy Folk.

I love to paint these ideas and I hope you enjoy looking at them ;0)

Some of these beauties will be appearing in my Etsy Shop very soon.  I'll let you know when ;0)
Hugs. Alis
